Silk Tie Dyed Eggs

This year I heard about "silk tie" dyed eggs. As I looked up more information on it, there were several ways to do it, some cooked the egg for 20 minutes while others poked a hole in the egg and blew out the egg then just used the shell. I knew doing this with Cali I would need to use the whole egg. I myself prefer brown eggs but for this kind of dying method you need white eggs. After reading the different ways to "silk tie dye" eggs I kinda just made up a little method myself that is easy to follow.

What you need:
+Raw eggs
+Silk ties
+Glass or enamel pot
+Fishing line
+Inside of the tie to wrap the egg, or white sheets
+Vinegar
+ Scissors
+Soap/Water

1.  Wash your eggs with warm water and soap to remove any oils on the outside.

2.Grab your silk ties and remove the stitching from the entire tie, removes the white cotton inner and place to the side for later use.

3. Cut your tie to fit your eggs. I placed my egg on my tie then rolled it until the entire egg was covered with the fabric. Make sure the printed side of the silk tie is facing the egg. Silk can still be used if it doesn't fit it perfectly.

4. Remember the cotton fabric from the inside of the tie I ask you to place next to you, cut the cotton down the middle vertically. And then each piece in half, horizontally.

5. Now the silk side of the tie should be placed against the egg, now wrap the cotton around the egg and secure with fishing line.

6. Place your eggs in the enamel or glass pot. (can not be a metallic pot) Fill the pot with water to completely cover the eggs. Add 3 tablespoons of white vinegar.

7. Bring water to a boil for about 20 minutes, reduce heat to med-lo for a remaining 40 minutes.

8. Turn off heat and remove the eggs and let cool for 20 minutes.

9. Remove fishing line and silk from cooled eggs and you should have a nice surprise!
